Scott Blades

With a background in education, law, counseling, media, and volunteer management, Scott (he/him) helped found TIHAN in 1994 to engage the community to address HIV and accompanying issues of religious homophobia. He is a champion of equality, justice, and inclusion for persons who are LGBTQ+ and persons who are living with HIV. He has been featured in many print and television stories, and has received community awards, including the 2018 Community Leader of the Year from the Tucson LGBT Chamber of Commerce, the William S. MacDonald Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 from Equality Arizona, the United Methodist Global AIDS Leadership Award from the UMC Global AIDS Fund in 2016, and the 2022 Godat Award from SAAF for extraordinary long-term contributions to Southern Arizona's LGBTQ+ community. Scott enjoys University of Arizona sports, volunteering, and spending time with husband Jess Losoya and their schnauzer Dylan, the cover dog for the 2025 Chamber calendar.
